Biography

Michelle Jay focuses her practice primarily on divorce and child custody cases. She understands the emotional challenges that accompany family law matters and offers her clients both compassionate support and strong legal advocacy.

Originally from West Liberty, Michelle moved to Des Moines for law school after earning her B.A. in Ethics & Public Policy and International Studies from the University of Iowa. In 2018, she graduated with honors from Drake University Law School, where she also received a Public Service Certificate. During her time at Drake, Michelle served as the Research Editor for the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law.

Michelle spent five years practicing law in Des Moines before returning to the Iowa City area. She has experience handling Child in Need of Assistance and juvenile delinquency cases. While in law school, Michelle gained valuable experience working at Iowa Legal Aid and the Iowa Attorney General's Office in the Department of Health and Human Services.

Outside of her legal career, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
