Michelle Jay practices primarily in the areas of divorce and child custody. Michelle understands the difficult and emotional process involved in family law matters. She provides compassion to her clients while also protecting their legal rights.

Michelle grew up in West Liberty before moving to Des Moines for law school. Prior to attending law school, Michelle received her B.A. in Ethics & Public Policy and International Studies from the University of Iowa. In 2018, Michelle received her J.D., with honors, from Drake University Law School. Michelle also received a Public Service Certificate. During law school, she was the Research Editor of the Drake Journal of Agricultural Law.

Michelle worked in private practice in Des Moines for five years before returning to the Iowa City area. Michelle has experience with Child in Need of Assistance and juvenile delinquency cases. While in law school, Michelle worked at Iowa Legal Aid and the Iowa Attorney General’s Office in the Department of Health and Human Services .

Outside of the practice of law, Michelle enjoys spending time with her husband and son.
